Gianna Cirella, a junior at Tollgate high school went to the doctor complaining of a sore throat. After the doctor examined her the doctor told her she had double pneumonia. After more testing they found she had sepsis which is an infection in her blood stream. She was then admitted to the hospital. Things seemed to spiral out of control from there. Due to the infection in her blood Gianna’s right leg had to be amputated. After being admitted to the hospital they doctors decided to put her in an induced coma hoping she would heal fast and maybe they could save the leg. Sadly they could not save her leg. After fighting for her life, Gianna was healthy enough to undergo amputation. Gianna underwent the amputation and things started looking up for her. Unfortunately the next few days were crucial for Gianna to heal. Complications arose and October 31st she underwent another surgery to see why she was not healing. When the looked it turns out the sepsis had completely spread throughout her body. They closed her up and broke the news that she was no longer able to fight this. During her time in the hospital her goFundme page reached 83 thousand dollars to support her medical funding. The love and the happiness Gianna brought to this world is irreplaceable. We ask that every time you wear purple or every-time you see the number 12 on a soccer field that you think of Gianna who's life was taken too soon. As a soccer family we ask for your support and your thought/prayers in this time of grief. We also ask that you promote the color purple and the number 12 as a sign of strength. We are #CirellaStrong. 11/1/17
