We're hurting. The world is hurting.
We lost one of the world's greatest athletes & role models, Kobe Bryant and his 13-year old daughter, Gianna Bryant yesterday in a tragic accident.
We can't quite put into words the past 24 hours and seeing how much he has clearly impacted the world. This tragedy has truly stopped us all in our tracks and made us truly reflect.
As we listen to the news, scroll our Twitter feeds and read Instagram posts of Kobe Bryant tributes; one thing is for sure.
Kobe's positive impact on others will last forever...
He displayed a work-ethic that will remain unmatched, motivating those on his team and those who looked up on him to stop at nothing. He taught us all by example what the "Mamba Mentality" is; consistently trying to be the best version of yourself every single day. He showed us the meaning of perfecting the basics. And above all, he showed us what it looked like to value family with the utmost importance.
This is a reminder that we need to stop worrying about the little things that DO NOT MATTER in the bigger picture of life.
It doesn't matter what you look like.
It doesn't matter who just cut you off while driving.
It doesn't matter what you weigh.
It doesn't matter what small frustration you're holding onto all day.
It doesn't matter what you wear, what material items you own or what car you drive or iPhone you can afford.
What matters most in life is how can you positively affect others? Those are the imprints that will last forever and leave their mark.
So before you X out of this blog post, we challenge you to stop and think.
What is the legacy that you want to leave behind?
How do you want to impact your friends, family and the world?
What negative thing are you holding onto right now that won't matter in the big picture?
Take that thought and live in alignment with the legacy you want to leave here on Earth.
And please don't forget to live every day and play every game like it's your last.
Be present and grateful and positive.
Stop and take the time to tell someone you love them every single day.
Leave all you have all on the field and in the classroom and at work.
Do your best every single opportunity that you have...not because you HAVE TO, but because you're alive and you CAN.
Rest in peace, Kobe and Gianna and the families lost on this tragic day. You have and will continue to change our future for the better... We will all make sure your Mamba Mentality lives on forever.
