Soccer Dads

Article content

Let's be real, "Soccer Dads" are the best. They spend uncountable hours driving us to and from practices, give up their weekends to go to our tournaments, and watch all of our games in 20 degree to 110 degree weather. Soccer dads are the best. We owe them a great deal for the players we have become. We all know there are different types of soccer dads on every sideline. Here are the five that we think each team definitely has!
(This is all in good fun, we LOVE all soccer dads out there!!)

ANGER MANAGEMENT DAD
The “Anger Management” Dad can often be found pacing along the sidelines screaming and disagreeing with each and every call the ref makes. This dad will throw his beach chair, kick a garbage can over and just overreact about basically everything. For this dad, there is always room for improvement from his daughter-and will be seen timing her sprints after a game. It's all out of LOVE though:)

STAT MANIAC DAD
Here we have the most intelligent of the dad species; the Stat Maniac. This dad asserts his dominance with his array of statistical knowledge of the game. He is typically wearing his suit and heads to the game straight from work, briefcase/laptop in hand. With his razor-sharp memory, he can be a useful resource to the other soccer dads.

OVERLY SUPPORTIVE DAD
Every team has one; the Overly Supportive Dad. He arrives promptly with a minivan full of players. He has orange slices for halftime, buys the team ice cream afterwards and ALWAYS hosts the team pasta parties. He attends to the injured with his first aid kit and volunteers as the line ref at every game. You go Glen Co Co!

"I'D RATHER BE WATCHING ESPN" DAD
The “I'd rather be watching ESPN” dad is a classic. He doesn’t really show focus or interest in what is happening on the field, but is more concerned with his snacks and NFL playoff game he’s missing. You can find him tossing the football with his son on the side of the field. He may not love soccer but at least he came to the game!
WANNABE COACH DAD
The "Wannabe Coach” Dad wants that whistle around his neck so badly. He stands on the coaches/teams' side of the field when he really shouldn't. His daughter is often saying "dad stop" every time he tries to chime in during a team huddle.

AGAIN - Soccer dads you rock.
Thanks for being you!
