Top 10 GoalKeeper Probs

Let’s face it being a goalkeeper is hard. Not just because we are the last line of defense but because we have SO MANY PROBLEMS that field players do not have. There are too many to name but here are a few… or 10.

  1.    Not being able to tie your laces.

Have you ever been in the middle of a game and you look down and one or both of your laces are untied? Then you try to get someone to tie them and no one is near. When someone finally comes to help you, you end up holding up the game because the ref either stops the ENTIRE game or your team or the other team waits (not) patiently to get the ball back in play. IT’S TERRIBLE!

  1. Yelling at your teammates but them not hearing you.

Listen.. we all say we are loud on the field but how loud are we really?? Have you ever been in a game where you are screaming to the top of your lungs but your defenders still don’t hear you or they choose to not listen? Probably one of the worst problems there is to date.

  1. Getting stuck in the net.

Your in front of a whole crowd of people and BOOM… you get stuck in the net. Literally one of the most embarrassing things there are. Also its super hard to try and get out of the net in a decent time so you aren’t looking like your struggling.

  1. The horrible stench of your gloves.

We know it may not bother us but BOY does it seem to bother the rest of our team. We use our gloves for every practice and every game for months on end and there’s no way to help it not stink up everything! When we finally get new gloves have you ever noticed that your teammates start rejoicing!! Because who doesn’t love that new glove feeling?!

      5. When pre wrap won’t stay in.

The game starts and your prewrap is perfectly in. Ten minutes later you have made a couple dives or you have messed with your hair andd then your pre wrap has fallen off. Then it’s almost impossible to put it back in with your gloves on because goalkeeper gloves are impossible to work with unless its a ball.

  1. That goalkeeper glove tan line!!!

  1. Being a SHORT goalkeeper.

Us short goalkeepers have it the WORST! The high balls are the worst so we have to rely on our jumps which still sometimes isn’t enough. Then what makes it worse is that coaches don’t see us as great as we are because we aren’t as tall as others. Short goalkeeperrrrrs UNITE!

  1. Getting chipped by the ball.

One of the worst feelings because there is no person tall enough to stop a ball from going in the goal once you get chipped. I will say it can be quite embarrassing as well. We all hate it because it happens to the best of us...

  1. Being covered in mud.

THE BEST POST PRACTICE FEELING EVER!! Although if your mom is who washes your soccer clothes she may feel very different LOL .. We all know the drill of bring towels to sit on in your (or your parents) car so everything else doesn’t get alll muddy.

  1. PK ‘s … you either love them or hate them.

There are 2 kinds of people. Those who love pk’s and those who absolutely hate them. They are a blessing and a curse at the same time! No matter which side you choose there are ups and downs for both! SO, which side are you?!

Even with all of our problems remember to keep working hard at every practice and game and give your all 110% of the time! Show everyone that WE are unstoppable. WE are GOALKEEPERS !

So.. WHAT IS YOUR TOP GOALKEEPER PROB?!?!

Mine is when your team doesn’t think you’re as fit as they are even though you’re 5’9 and run the mile every day but also get kicked in the face.

Or when coach has you doing technical training and nobody thinks you can do it even though you can do it just as well as your team😂

Mine would be always getting blamed if the game was lost but no credit if your team won the game because the ball had to get through everyone else but they find it convenient to blame the keeper.

When everyone blames you for letting a goal in when it had to go through 10 people first, then when you make a great save no one says anything
